Background
Born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Pippa had a relativly normal childhood only branching into acting after she had finished high school. Pippa attended local Victoria primary (St Patrick’s Primary School) and secondary (Beaconhills Christian College) schools.
She was school vice captain whilst at Beaconhills Christian College.
She made the jump into acting after starting college studying Animal Technology. At first she attempted to balance her studies of both subjects but in the end found herself deferring Animal Technology. It took several years and countless auditions for Pippa to finally make the break through into the acting mainstream (which came with her successfully securing the role of Elle Robinson on Neighbours).
Acting
Pippa's first major acting role was that of Elle Robinson in the Australian soap Neighbours. This followed on from several other smaller television based acting parts and saw Pippa Black starring alongside some of Australia's biggest talents. Her role on Neighbours was arguably her first big break and she joined the show as "Elle Robinson" in late 2005.
Family
Pippa's family has gone on record stating that they were please with Pippa's acting success shortly after she secured the role of Elle Robinson in Neighbours.
Pippa has a younger brother Tom who has attended public events alongside her on ocassions.
Neighbours
Despite being chosen to play the role by the Neighbours casting team, Pippa faced a degree of criticism for poor acting by fans of the show as many seemed to feel her acting wasn't at the level of existing cast members. Her appointment came at the time when Neighbours was being accused of trying to copy fellow Australian soap Home And Away which was getting more viewers at the time. This involved Pippa as fans felt she (and Dan O'Connor who joined the show at the same time) had been appointed on looks rather than talent. This view lessened with time though and opinions were very mixed with many feeling Pippa would prove to be a hit on the show with the right storylines.
Pippa's character, Elle Robinson, quickly became an integral part in the show. Her first storylines revolved around clashes with Paul's current girlfriend when she arrived Izzy Hoyland. Interest in Ned Parker soon saw Elle planning to leave Ramsay Street and Erinborough to return home to Tasmania. Later, and with the arrival of Elle Robinson's twin brothers, she was involved in one of 2006's bigger storylines.
Other Roles
Pippa has appeared in a few other places since she picked up her role in Neighbours such as an Australian eye liner makeup advert in which she appears as a nurse who is treating a patient who is rushed into hospital. Whilst tending to the patient she notices her painted eyelids and rubs some from the patient onto her finger and then applied it to her own eyes and admires the look in a small metal kidney dish.
Public
Whilst acting full time on Neighbours takes up a lot of time, Pippa has appeared at various big public events and occasions in Australia. Promotional work with Neighbours has also led to extensive interviews in various media and invitations to award shows, like the Logie's, and Australian movie premiers.
Appearances by the young star include presenting an award on stage at the 2006 Dolly Teen Choice Awards alongside fellow Neighbours stars Dan O'Connor, Adelaine Kane and Sam Clarke.
Charity
Pippa has support various charitable causes publicly. These include the Narre Warren Lighthouse Foundation, the RSPCA and Peta.
Relationships
As Pippa joined Neighbours media speculation began about relationships she may be involved in. Initial reports suggested she may have dated fellow Neighbours Dan O'Connor (who plays the character Ned Parker in the soap). These were later replaced with much stronger reports in 2006 that Pippa was dating Fletcher Humphrys.
The pair appeared at several public events together adding weight to the link between them. Fletcher also appeared in Neighbours as the guest character of Guy Sykes in late 2006. His role only lasted for 10 weeks and he was not involved with Pippa's character of Elle Robinson.
Their relationship was confirmed by media outlets in early 2007.
Towards the end of 2007 the news broke that Pippa and Fletcher had broken up.
Future
Pippa Black is currently still involved as Elle Robinson on Neighbours and this part looks secure in the near future. It's often common for stars of the show to branch out into larger acting roles (on both in television and movies) or into a musical based career though nothing has been hinted at yet by Pippa.
